Are You Stressed?

March 9, 2016
Are the little things overwhelming you?
The little ones are sick, you can’t sleep, your days are just holding babies and wiping noses…wondering if this flu would ever be over. You can’t keep my eyes open, even to change a diaper.

I’ve also been in such a big hurry, doing so many things, that I didn’t know who I was and what I should be really doing. It wasn’t just physical tiredness, I was tired to the bone, emotionally.
That’s when the verses of Matthew bring comfort and perspective…
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and You will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Can you imagine Jesus in a hurry?
He told his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem…but he didn’t rush to get there.
What important things do you have to do today? Things that didn’t get done yesterday…must be done today.
Wouldn’t God have more pressing things to do, than you?
Yet he was never in a hurry that he “lost” his kindness, his gentleness, his peace.

If you are burdened, are you doing something that God didn’t want you to do?
Do you need to say “No” to good activities in order to do the best?

“My yoke is easy…”
Having a yoke is still work, but it is easy.
Are you taking more than you should? Are you doing your job and your husbands? Are you trying to keep a perfectly clean house  with little ones? That's impossible. Are you trying to make the decisions for your grown children?

“My burden is light.”
God didn’t make you a mom, so you can rule the world, or your family.
He made you a mom so you could “Learn from Him.”
Are you stressed?
Go to Him and He will give you rest.

What helps you to remember to be still before God?

I write about what you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what Him.
