Tea and Rest

What do you do when you have a few moments, but must refocus?
Drink Tea.
What does tea do?
For a good cup of tea, the water must be hot.
Heat draws out the tea.
Just like in life, heat reveals and strengthens character and faith.
For a good cup of tea, the tea bag must be steeped to draw the flavors from the leaves.
Just like in life, you must be infused under heat with time by God's Spirit to be changed.
For a good cup of tea, the tea leaves must be of excellent quality. Cheap leaves make cheap tea.
Just like in life, cheap substitutes give awful, temporary, and fake results. Without acknowledging God in your rest, you have no rest.

For a good cup of tea, you cannot rush the process, but nor can you rush drinking it.
A good cup of tea must be savored. You must stop and sip it. You can’t guzzle tea. You will burn your lips and scald your throat.
Just like in life, you can’t rush to know God. He reveals His truths slowly, in small sips.
For a good cup of tea, you must smell the aroma.
Just like in life, lingering in God’s presence will cause your life to be a pleasing fragrance for him.
For a good cup of tea, you must hold it in both hands to feel the heat and relax.
Just like in life, holding onto God brings the rest of the day in focus.
For a good cup of tea, you must taste it.
Just like in life, meditating on God's truths will give deeper insights and longer rest. "Taste and see that the Lord is good" Psalms 34:8.
For a good cup of tea, you must sit in quietness.
Just like in life, we can't hear God listening to everything else.

You can’t hurry tea. Nor can you hurry rest.
Enjoy the moment with God, now.

For when the cup is empty, you must get back to life. And that is hurried enough.

How do you snatch times of rest in between times of work?

I write about what matters...to you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what matters...to Him.

Author of Biblical fiction, married to my best friend, and challenged by eight sons’ growing pains as I write about what matters.
