How Heritage Is Bought by Blood

Our American heritage and freedom is bought by blood. Many have fought to get our freedoms. Many have died to keep our freedoms.
Today, people want to re-write our history to show the atrocities of war to prove that we should not fight. And wars do have atrocities. But without war, our freedoms wouldn’t exist.
Some say, "Peace at all costs."
That we've had enough blood. Our country was founded on blood. They cheapen the lives of those who did fight by saying it was not needed.
Evil does not stay neatly in its little corner.
It wants what you have.
And it does not share.
It pervades everything.
Unless
men fight to eliminate it.
That means blood will be shed.

What did God do when more than political and religious freedoms were at stake?
Did He tell Satan, “You win”?
No! God fought Satan on the cross.
With His Son's blood.

When we minimize the blood of our fallen, or the blood of Christ, we nullify what it took to give us our freedoms.
We cheapen the gift.
We lessen our appreciation for our own freedoms.

Our Christian heritage was bought by blood.
For you have been bought with a price; therefore glorify God in your body. I Corinthians 6:20.
What was that price?
Nothing But the Blood of Jesus Christ could save us.

Knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. I Peter 1:18-19.

We are also told, “not to forget” what Christ has done. 2 Peter 1:12-15. And to remember until He returns.
This coming Veterans' Day, remember.

I've seen most of these pictures before, but we can never be reminded enough of what others have given for our great freedoms. Thanks for the reminder as we stop on Monday to give thanks for all those who have given so much.

I write about what matters...to you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what matters...to Him.
