Is Your Soul Feeling Ragged?
Meditations from Psalm 19.
Do you feel like the world has worn you out and then spit you out?
Do you need a vacation, not just from work or routine but from life?
Know where the Bible says to go for that refreshment?
Read this:
The law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul.v. 7.
Restore your soul by reading the Word.
When I think of any law, I think of a list of do’s and don’t’s that restrict me and make my life miserable.
(Children’s car seats come to mind. Show me a parent that loves car seats and I will show you a parent who doesn’t have a real child.)
But God’s Law gives boundaries that enable me to live free and blessed and restored.
His boundaries keep me from things that will hurt me. His boundaries show me His love.
How does that happen?
God’s Law helps me know Him.
Do you know what to do in these troubled times?
Some say, "You can’t vote for anyone other than Trump and still be a Christian."
The answer again is found in the Bible:
The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. V. 7b.
Want wisdom on who to believe? Go to the Word. It will make you wise.
Tired of hearing lies about the safety of masks and the government’s protection from a virus? Need to know truth that doesn’t change?
Something sure that is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow?
God’s Law gives answers. Ask Him. Be willing to change what you think.
Do you lack joy?
The Bible tells where to get it.
The precepts of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart. V. 8.
Want joy? Read God’s Word.
Know why it brings joy?
Because God’s Word is good. It brings wholesomeness.
It reminds us of God’s love for us.
He will make all things right.
His character is reflected by His Words.
They do not change.
By reading His Words we come to know Him.
That brings joy.
Have you lost the sparkle in your eyes?
Are you sick of hearing the evil done by our leaders?
Child trafficking and molestations, babies killed, the lies, thefts and cheating of our elected representatives, riots orchestrated by those people who are to represent you?
Do you long for what is pure?
Find it here:
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes. v. 8b.
Do you crave goodness?
Just reading about what our representatives have done makes me feel evil. (They do represent us.)
We are living like the time of Judges, where “everyone did what was right in their own eyes” and it ain’t pretty or good.
Where can I go to be clean?
The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever, the judgments of the Lord are true; they are righteous altogether. V. 9.
Do you want to do something that really matters?
They (meaning the judgments of the Lord) are more desirable than gold, yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb. V. 10.
His Word is eternal. His precepts will last.
Obeying them, brings eternal blessings.
When you read God’s Word, do you feel the warning?
Moreover, by them Your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. Psalm 19:11
His Word is meant to keep us looking to Him, otherwise we all end up doing our own thing. We like to make our own decisions. Don’t we know what is best?
Are you convicted of sin? Some you didn’t even know you were doing?
Who can discern his errors? Acquit me of hidden faults. V. 12.
What about those sins you know you’re doing, but keep doing anyway?
Those habits or attitudes that plague you, you can’t win over them?
Here’s the prayer for you:
Keep back Your servant from presumptuous (willful, intentional) sins; let them not rule over me; then I will be blameless and I shall be acquitted of great transgression. V. 13.
Know how to be refreshed? Be wise? Have joy? Be pure and clean? Do what lasts forever? Be kept from sin, hidden and known?
Read His Word.
Don’t even know what to pray?
This last verse tells you,
Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14.
How do we be acceptable in God's sight?
By being in His Word.

I write about what matters...to you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what matters...to Him.

Christmas: Stories behind the Songs, part 2
Author of Biblical fiction, married to my best friend, and challenged by eight sons’ growing pains as I write about what matters.
I definitely notice a difference in myself between when I'm in His word daily and when I "get too busy." Like right now, so I must get back in His word every single day. Thanks.
