God Is Faithful

I have a pair of little birds (titmouses) that build their nest right outside my bedroom window every spring.
The nest is in an old acorn tree whose limb had been cut off leaving a hole.
I watch the pair make many trips back and forth first to fix their nest, then to feed their young.
They do not stop, regardless of breezy weather or sunshine.
They have job to do.
The male is greatly disturbed when I stand on my deck too close to their hole.
He will wait on a branch with food dangling from his beak until I leave before he enters the hole.
He protects his young.
They do not care what goes on around them.
The world could be on fire, yet they still do what they must to bring their young to adulthood.
They remain faithful to do the job given to them.
The Creator’s rules instilled when the world began are still being obeyed by His little creatures.
He still knows when the little sparrow falls, even those too little to fly but think they can.
God is faithful.
What peace that brings when the world seems upside down.
The Book of Lamentations is written by Jeremiah to the remnant of Israel—those left behind after everyone else was killed or taken as slaves to a foreign land.
Only the poor were left to tend the fields.
What desolation they must have faced every day!
Burying those killed from starvation during the seige and the final battle.
Picking through the rubble of their burnt city for something they could use to survive.
Searching for food.
Jeremiah cries over their losses.
Not just their physical loss.
But their spiritual loss.
They had lost their anchor.
They had forgotten God.
Jeremiah bemoans their losses and reminds them to look to God.
Chapter 2:17 tells us, The Lord has done what He purposed; He has accomplished His Word.
God is still in charge.
But He did not forget them.
Jeremiah reminds them,
This I recall to my mind, Therefore I have hope.
The Lord’s loving-kindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
—
The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the person who seeks Him.
It is good that he waits silently
For the salvation of the Lord.
Lamentations 3:21-23, 25-26
The sun will still shine till the end of the world.
The birds still build their nests and raise their young.
God is still in charge.
God is good.
And God is faithful.
That gives hope.
Have just a few minutes and decided to read your article, I am always blessed by them. These have been trying days, but God is faithful and so are are family and friends to pray for us and support us. Thanks Sonya for your words.
