Are You Safe?

People asked me, especially after we would kill ten rattlesnakes a year, how do you feel safe where we live?
I answered, “I know how a snake will respond; I’m more concerned about what man can do.” Although a simplified answer, I really meant, that where God places us, even if it were in the jungles of Africa, we would be safe—safer than outside God’s will.

Someone responded to my article Does the World Make Sense? with the comment, “I don’t think it’s a Obama/Trump issue. It’s a let’s keep the American public as safe as possible even with extreme measures.” She believed the government meant to keep her safe.

After several Dallas policemen tested positive to the virus, their police department reported they would not respond to theft calls. The “news clip” went on to tell everyone buy a gun and protect yourselves.
Would you be safe then?

When the Israelites were threatened by Babylon, King Jehoiakim requested Egypt’s help.
Were they safe?

Isaiah 31:1 gives the answer: “Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, and trust in chariots because they are many, and in horsemen because they are very strong. But they do not look to the Holy One of Israel, nor seek the Lord.”

Where did their trust get them?
They  were taken into captivity.
No amount of man’s help could keep the Israelites safe.

In fact, God used a wicked king to chastise his people.
Jeremiah 27:6 says, “And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, My servant.”

God is still in charge. God uses the rulers of this world to do His Work. SEE Does the World Make Sense?

Others seek safety in possessions.
People plan for the end of the world with enough food, water, toilet paper and guns to keep them safe.
A certain rich man also depended upon his planning.
Where did his hoarding get him?
God told him, “You fool! This very night your soul is required of you. And now who will own what you have prepared?”Luke 12:13-21.

Know what God thinks of all our trust in these things?
Cursed is the man who trusts in mankind and makes flesh his strength and whose heart turns away from the Lord. Jeremiah 17:5.

These times make us question what we hold for safety.
For good reason. All these things cannot keep us safe.
Our safety does not lie with our government, our possessions, or our own strength.

Where should we trust?
“Some boast in chariots and some in horses, but we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God.” Psalms 20:7

God knew about the virus before it even hit the States. He also knew who would get it.
But He also made our bodies with a wonderful immune system to fight most diseases as common as the cold and flu and those like them—the China virus.
Many have caught the China virus and not even known it—thinking it just a cold. They lived.
God is still in charge. He is not surprised by what has happened.
Nor are His hands tied as you wait at home and wonder if your job will return or if the government will continue to steal our freedoms.
He knows that too.

In fact, God already has a cure for any virus and any difficulty:

If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, And My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:13-14.

It’s up to you to accept God's cure and trust in Him.
Only then will you be safe.

I write about what matters...to you---
women, wives and moms---
about your family, faith and future.
I write about what's hard, what helps and what heals.
I show you how it's done. And not done.
I hold your hand as you find what matters to the Savior.
And let go of those things that mattered to you, but not to Him.
I write about what matters...to Him.
